Every website should have a mascot, right? Here at theMangoTimes, we have Champ the Black Lab. For those readers who have been around since the beginning, you know that Champ lives in the shadow of several favorite dogs/previous mascots. We have fond memories of Salsa the Golden Retriever who earned the original title of: BEST DOG ON EARTH. Salsa was followed by Betty the Surfdog and most recently Rasta the Chocolate Lab. Champ currently stepped into the roll of mascot and spokes-dog for living out everything we believe in The Fletchifesto.

Why the name Champ? He is a CHAMPION and a SURVIVOR! We adopted/rescued Champ as a 5-ish year old black lab from Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno. He was initially found on the side of the road with a huge infected wound on the side of his neck and he was rushed for emergency surgery. X-rays also revealed that one of Champ’s hips was completely out of its socket, which quickly led to more surgery. He was also treated for double ear infections and if that was not enough to overcome, Champ was tipping the scales at 115lbs. Stick around and follow Champ as he and Fletch lose 35lbs together!

Champ is just a big gentle guy who has worked through the boundless energy that Labs are known for having. Rather than constant movement and activity, Champ is quick to find a piece of floor to occupy and sleep. He loves people of all sizes and quickly became friends with Bailey the Cat.
