We all scream for Ice Cream!
This past Saturday the Back Porch was hopping with over 65 adults and kids helping us send the Summer of 2009 off into history. Everyone was treated to an all-out custom ice cream sundae bar (and I do mean “custom”). Many of our guests were local friends and families from church, but we were very pleased to welcome some new and old “Friends of theMangoTimes.” Debra and Nate from Casa de Perkins showed up for the bash, as well as my old high school buddy James and a few of his sons! (That reminds me…I totally forgot to mention a great visit last month from one of my favorite set of virtual visitors Stacy and her good friend Amy came down to spend the weekend with Kendra and her friends…). So this turned out to be the summer of great blog/friend connections! Interested in a visit? Want to check out life at theMangoTimes…just let us know you are coming…
Enough of the guests, you want to hear about the ice cream. Well, not every topping we had was outrageous or over the top…

Chopped nuts…pretty typical
We also had most of the cereals covered…

Best cereal on the planet!

Purple Horseshoes!
We also had “crossover” toppings where various snacks met ice cream…

Salt and Sweet
We also decided to mix desserts…say for example…cake and ice cream…

Pound cake…yum!
Also included, but not photographed: cayenne pepper, syrup, black pepper, candy corn, gummy bears, chocolate powder…and many more!
This character won the award for eating all of the toppings in one bowl of ice cream…

He tried them all!

His creation: “The Diabetic Coma”
Here is some video footage of the ice cream sundae creations…
Thankfully Dana was able to make it for the final party of the year. We finally had someone that could show us the actual dance moves. Here we are working on a few of the favorites this week:
So, until Memorial Day 2010…thanks to one and all for joining us on the Back Porch!

And I wasn’t there. Man, did I miss out!
Thanks for the good times and memories! …. belly aches, smell of’ sweaty dancing bodies with a hint of whisky in the air, though I prefered the watered down sweet tea. I was happy to leave behind the Macanudo-blech!
Can’t wait to open next summer on the back porch!
Arghhh, what’s up? No post for talk like a pirate day?
