So…if my Dad can talk about what is on his iPod, I guess I can too!
Before I lay down some of my favorite artists, let me just say that I don’t actually have an iPod. Sad, isn’t it? I have to use my mom’s old one (which was my dad’s before her). Maybe if enough people comment, Dad will realize that I do actually need one. Anywho, I guess the title of this post should be On My (Mom’s-Really-Old-and-Retarded) iPod Artists Beginning with R.
“Relient k†– My favorite band. Ever. The most awesome band of rockers that ever joined into a group of awesomeness. I own several of their CDs, and even a music video. “The Best Thing†is my favorite song, too, not just my favorite song of theirs, but my favorite song. Ever. “Be My Escape†and “Who I Am Hates Who I’ve Been†are both awesome (I love that word) examples of a call out to God, and are some more of my favorite songs ever. Very highly recommended band.
“R.E.M.†– We went to go see the animated movie Chicken Little a few years ago with some friends. After the theatre took an extra half an hour to get people seated, we enjoyed what I must call a truly awesome movie (half-naked chickens running from fuzzy pink aliens? Very cool). About halfway through it was the song “It’s the End Of the World As We Know It†by R.E.M. Give it a listen and you’ll see why I immediately bought it.
“Run-DMC†– Earlier this year, my mom posted about a book she was reading. As she said, it was written by former rapper Rev Run. Back in his glory days (or were they?), he was the lead singer for Run-DMC. I only have – and love – their version of “Walk This Way†with Aerosmith. Very cool to see rap and rock mixed so well, and the music video is just as good.
“Russ Landau†– In case you don’t know, I’m have a love for soundtracks. Not being very rich, I only own about 15, but I still love them. Russ Landau composed the music to a reality TV show called Pirate Master. It’s a very Celtic sounding soundtrack, with a lot of violins and guitars, and rather pleasant to listen to. Sometimes I’ll just turn it on when I get tired of rock and roll (NOTE: me getting tired of rock is a very rare occurrence).
“Red†– Though pop and rock are my favorite genres of music, I do (sometimes) like rap and heavy metal as well. Red is very heavy metal. A Christian band, they are an example of the people out there that ask, as Larry Norman once asked, “why should the Devil have all the good music?†From “Breathe Into Me†to “Never Be the Same,†they are a very good band that ‘reeks’ of Christ.
Quietly making noise,

I have to agree, Relient K is the best band ever!
