Quietly, Quietly, Quietly Making Noise…since 1995

Interview

Last month, Kendra and I were interviewed by the Homeschool Blog Awards site. The interviews were based on our sweep of the Best Homeschool Dad and Mom awards. The interview was posted while we were in the middle of our hospital stay, so I did not make mention of it (I was pleased that the interviewer was kind enough to include a prayer request for Mighty Joe with the interview). Kendra’s interview will not be posted until August 1st (her questions and answers were much more official then mine…).
So, if you are not bored enough by what is written here in theMangoTimes…please drop by the Winner Wednesday post at the Homeschool Blog Awards site and you can read even more of my silly comments.

  1. Nice interview…. you dress up real good. :-)

Seriously, so proud to be one of the original MT recipients! and so glad you’ve moved it digital so that you’ve got more flexibility to get your funk on (love the cheesy Christian stuff! and the sermon links, and the stupid candy…)

  2. Hey Barb…In many ways, theMT is here because of you and Byroni…I think of you guys often as I write here…Fletch

  3. Of course we enjoyed the interview. My favorite line?

“Yes, my wife and I swept the HSBA mom and dad awards this year…it was a big day in the Fletcher house with speeches and receptions and so forth. ”

Because I assumed you were joking.

But then again, maybe not. Which would be even funnier.

    We like you guys!

    ~Stacy (and Mark)

  4. If you like us so much…you could visit…You “virtually” know like half the people in our church…
Well maybe not half, but all the bloggin’ folks and most of them are normal like you guys…we are the only “edgy” ones (read: Jimmy Buffett and blended drinks)…scratch that…Kenj is normal too…I’m the only edgy one.
Kenj, Auntie Lisa and my best friend Eric are killer players of “Settlers” too.

Seriously, plan a central california vacation: Yosemite, SF, and Turlock (okay, Turlock isn’t that cool, but it’s “near” us).

By the way…did Mark really say any of that, or was he “just” included in the parenthesis?

  5. Turlock is too cool! Remember the old song “Turkeys from Turlock, turkeys from Turlock!” What’s not to love?

  6. Jimmy Buffet and blended drinks are what brought us to and back again. Where else could we find such a combonation of Edgy and Pastor?

  7. Dana…to, from, back, going, coming…who’s keeping score? It was really like a long vacation…but, I may put that on the church website: “Where edgy meets theology…”

  8. I am a regular reader of P&P and I often drop by here too. I loved your interview. It’s great to finally know where the “Quietly Making Noise” comes from and means to you. Fantasitc!

Oh, by the way, your comment “…if you’re not bored enough by what is written here…” doesn’t apply. I come here for a little (or alot) of laughter as well as some spiritual input. And I love reading stories of your family.

    Keep up the wonderful work!

    ~Amanda in Australia.

  9. I know, I know. We’re gonna visit one of these days. It’s just a matter of when. Does drinking blended drinks really make a person “edgy”? Jimmy Buffet, yes. But a blended drink? Nah..

And when we come we will absolutely play Settlers. That’s just a given.

We actually know some people in Turlock– they do campus ministry there.

And yes, Mark was reading along with me and we are in agreement that we like you guys. Although I think he’d rather listen to Van Morrison or Johnny Cash or the 77’s or some else besides Jimmy Buffet.

    Take care,
    ~Stacy

  10. I was a 77’s fan in high school if that makes it any better. Undercover, too.
