A Personal Relationship with God

A few weeks ago, The White Horse Inn did a great show on modern day evangelical Christianity called “The Gospel of Personal Relationship.” At one point, Michael Horton, Kim Riddelbarger, Ken Jones and Rod Rosenbladt began a discussion on the lingo the modern church has adopted regarding our “relationship with God.” Below, I’ve included a one minute clip to whet your appetite. To hear the rest go directly to The White Horse Inn.

  1. This is good stuff (as usual). It is amazing how much of our individualistic culture has permeated the church and how she does doctrine!

  2. I hope you don’t mind that I linked to your blog today. This is good stuff.

And ditto what Amy said… but then again, she and I agree on pretty much everything. Except who should win on American Idol and Dancing with The Stars.

  3. I’m not as hip to the Idol…Stars…information… But, had you commented on who was in the coffin on LOST…well now, then I’d have something to say…

  4. I am really fond of the “You have to ask Jesus in your heart” phrase. This is a Christian colloquialism that means absolutely zilch to the “unchurched non-believer.” I see so many times, a young persons leader, explain to the kids after a good object lesson on how to not be bad, on the fact that they will burn in HELL for all eternity if they don’t ask Jesus in their heart. (I’m raising my hand without even realizing I’m doing it right now.) Of course you’re going to get kids to raise their hand, they don’t have a clue but they are scared to death of hell.

  5. I JUST listened to this today while on my doing my *cardio* on the elliptical (its what gets me through!). I kept back tracking, because it all just makes sense to me (and I needed to hear it over and over!). I LOVE WHI! They make the most sense to me. I will probably link to you because I have NO idea how to put that audio on my own blog;) Great post!!
